A Korean apostille is a certificate issued by the Commissioner of Overseas Korean Affairs or the Minister of Justice to verify the authenticity of Korean official documents submitted to countries that have signed the “Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Authentication of Foreign Official Documents” (the “Apostille Convention”).
This refers to having official documents issued in Korea authenticated for use in a foreign country.
- Documents issued by a state or municipality (an organization entrusted with state or municipal affairs)
- Notarized documents
- A transcript or draft of the trial transcript or judgment.
- Documents prepared in an official capacity by national and local governments other than the Ministry of Justice and its agencies (public prosecutors’ offices)
- Documents prepared in an official capacity by organizations entrusted with state and municipal affairs
- A transcript or draft of the trial transcript or judgment.
- Documents prepared in an official capacity by the Department of Justice or any of its agencies (including the Office of the Public Defender)
- Notarized documents
- A transcript or draft of a trial transcript or transcript of a trial that is preserved by the Department of Justice or its agencies.
