Where to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa
- South Korean embassy or consulate abroad
- If you are in Korea, go to the immigration office
Digital Nomad visas can be applied for at Korean consulates abroad, and B1, B2, and C3 visa holders can apply at Korean immigration offices. However, you will need to bring an apostilled foreign criminal background certificate.
Digital Nomad Visa Eligibility Criteria
- business owners or foreigners who are employed by an international company and are able to work remotely.
- Been in the same industry for at least 1 year
- 18 years of age or older
- family members can apply (can apply over 18years)
- Proof of income for the year prior to the date of application (2x South Korea’s GNI) – approximately 8,800,000 won as of 2024
- Sign up for insurance that covers more than 100 million won during your stay
Required documents
- Visa application
- Proof of employment
- Proof of income (pay stubs, bank statements, etc.)
- Criminal background certificate – Apostille or Korean consulate notarization required
- Proof of private health insurance coverage
- family relationship certification (if accompanying family)
Length of stay in korea
- Period of stay is granted for one year from the date of entry
- Renewable for an additional year (up to 2 years)
- No employment or other profit-making activities in Korea (can be changed to E7 visa when employed)
- Short-stay tourist visa (B1, B2, C3 visas) can be changed to a digital nomad visa upon entry
