In order to extend your D8 visa, the immigration office will check the following
- Existence of a business location
- Business performance
- Whether your taxes are complete
- Whether you are in South Korea
If you don’t have a business track record
Of the above, the most important thing to consider when extending a D8 visa is proof of business performance. If you don’t have a business track record, it may be suspected that you did something else after you got your visa, and your visa extension may not be granted.
Because it can be difficult to get a track record in the early days of a business, you may be able to get an extension if you submit a letter of explanation and take additional steps to show that you intend to stay in business. However, if this happens repeatedly, you may be denied.

If you are on a secondment D8 visa from an overseas headquarters
- Overseas Headquarters Dispatch Order
- Proof of employment at a foreign headquarters
- Proof of employment with a Korean company
