D7 visa is an employee visa for foreign companies to send executives, employees, etc. to Korean branches or liaison offices, or overseas corporations to Korean headquarters.

There are three types of company formation in South Korea.

If you are listed as a registered branch office and have a “Certificate of Domestic Branch of a Foreign Corporation”, you can apply for a D7 visa.
If your company is registered as a joint stock company and has a ‘Foreign Investment Company Registration Certificate’, apply for a D8 visa.
If you are a Korean branch of a multinational company but have no connection to the company in terms of incorporation or ownership, you can hire employees on an E7 visa.

Prerequisites

Those who have worked at a foreign public institution, organization, or company’s headquarters, branch, or other business office for more than one year and intend to work as an important professional (officer, director, or expert) at an affiliated institution, subsidiary, branch, or business office in Korea.

* Exemption or relaxation of the one-year headquarters requirement
Engaged in national priority industries or national projects (power plants, trains, subways, etc.)
Work experience in other companies in the same or similar industry
Have a good record of bringing in $500,000 or more in working capital.

Basic Requirements

A person who works for a local or overseas branch established by a listed company or public institution for more than one year and is seconded to the headquarters or main office in Korea to provide or transfer specialized knowledge, skills, or functions.

* Foreign subsidiaries and branches must have a minimum investment of $500,000 from the headquarters (no investment required if the headquarters is a public entity)
